Some Three Month Milestones

Lily can now reach for toys on her activity mat.

She desperately wants to sit up. The boppy is supporting her, but she really is doing a lot on her own. It won't be long...

Lily has recently discovered her thumb. Aghhh!!! Having a cleft palate means she cannot hold a pacifier in her mouth. Therefore, the thumb serves as a perfect alternative.

One of my friends let me use this miracle blanket. WOW! Ever since we started swaddling Lily in this, she has slept so much better. Last night she slept from 9:30 pm - 7:00 am. That has been such a blessing to me.

***I don't have a picture, but Lily has rolled over 3 times. She can only roll from her tummy to her back, but what an accomplishment. I think she'll soon learn how to roll from her back to her tummy - she's halfway there already.

Caraline & Lily

Once again Caraline and Lily were wearing the same outfits (it wasn't planned...). Caraline is a month younger than Lily, but bigger as you can tell. Maybe Lily will catch up soon.

Parenting Styles

As Lily approaches 3 months of age, I have been thinking a lot about what my parenting style will be. Will I be the "Baby Wise" mom or the "Baby-Wearing" mom? The first of these practices the "cry-it-out" method to put your baby on a schedule, while the latter always comforts the child to put them to sleep. I can see good and bad points to both. The baby wise mom will probably get the child on a consistent sleep schedule - which is great. The baby-wearing mom will probably teach the child that they must be comforted (rocked, swung, carried, etc.) to be put to sleep. I tried the baby wise approach about a month ago, but soon realized that Lily was just too young to let her cry for 45 minutes at a time. I felt like I was abandoning her. So I guess you could say I have been practicing the baby-wearing approach for now. There has got to be a happy medium. Any suggestions?

We Love Visitors...

Lily had a great visit with her friend Anna. John, Marie and Anna came to meet Lily and visit with us over the New Year's holiday. We had a great time just hanging out at the house. Anna loved seeing "the baby". I can only imagine what she will be like when her new "baby brudder" arrives. Thanks Childress family for making it a great visit!

Lily's First Christmas

We debated for several weeks about what to do for Christmas. After much thought, we decided to visit all of our family. We went to Burlington to see my dad on Christmas Eve. Lily got to meet some of her cousins and spend time with her granddad, grandma Suzie and her great grandparents. On Christmas morning we headed over to Aaron's moms house for breakfast. Christmas afternoon we went to see Lily's grandma and grandpoppy along with some more cousins and her other set of great grandparents. Overall it went really well and I am thankful that we got to see everyone. I hope that each one of you had a Merry Christmas!
