The World's Greatest Granddad Comes to Visit!

Last Sunday my dad surprised us and came to visit. I think he really just wanted to see Lily :). We had a quick, but good visit and love when he comes to see us. Here are some pictures from our time together.

Daddy's Future State Fan...

Enjoying the Beautiful Weather!

We have had 80 degree weather the last couple of days. Lily and I ventured outside to enjoy this beautiful weather. I actually put Lily in her stroller forward-facing and I think she had a good time. My only concern is making sure she doesn't get too much sun. Any advice on when I can start using sunscreen on an infant??? I thought I heard that you had to wait several months (6 months or so). It will be back to 45 this weekend, so no more outside trips until the warm weather comes back. Lily and I will anxiously await spring and summer time.

Discovering Her Feet

Over the past few days Lily has discovered her feet. Almost every time she is laying down she will grab her feet and put them straight in her mouth. It's so much fun watching her discover new things everyday. I can't believe she will be 5 months old in less than 2 weeks. Time goes by so fast! Here are 2 pictures that I wanted to share with you:

Thumbs and feet - Lily's favorite

Aren't these 2 just so cute!

She's Growing

Lily had her 4 month checkup yesterday. She is now 12 lbs 7 ounces (25%), 24 1/4 inches long (50%) and has a 41 cm head (45%). The doctor said she looked great! We don't have to go back until 6 months.

Lily has had a rash on her face and back for several weeks. The doctor recommended that we bathe her everyday in Dove soap, use hydrocortisone cream, and cover her entire body in Vaseline. That is definitely going to be a chore for me, but I hope well worth it. I must confess I wasn't bathing her everyday before - maybe every 2 to 3 days. I guess this will become part of our nighttime routine.

We also talked about swaddling at this appointment. The doctor seems to think I should start working on getting Lily to sleep without the swaddle. But she sleeps so well that way. I don't think I am ready to give that up yet. Last night she slept from 9 pm - 8 am. WOW! I don't expect that every night, but once in a while is great.

Aaron and I decided a couple of nights ago that we needed to move Lily to her own room. It's been 2 nights now and things seem to be going well. I hope she doesn't think we have abandoned her. Maybe she's still too young to realize that. As for us, we are sleeping much better now.

As far as 4 month milestones - Lily has now rolled over (from tummy to back), she is making lots of new noises, she is eating 5 - 6 ounces at a time, she is going to sleep on her own (no more walking around trying to get her to sleep), and she is trying her best to sit up (I think that will be a while longer). It's amazing how fast she is growing.

Lily's First Overnight Trip

This weekend we went to visit my grandparents, mom and Don, and some other extended family. We were celebrating my mom's birthday. Lily did great - she even slept like she does at home. I was shocked! Everyone loved visiting with her and was amazed at how much she has grown. I guess I don't notice that as much because I see her everyday.

Here is Lily with her grandma and cousin Olivia.

Aaron and I peeked in on Lily while she was napping and this is what we saw. Somehow she managed to get out of her swaddle and kick the blankets off.

Recent Pictures

Here are some recent pictures of Lily.

Lily loves spending time with her daddy, even if it is playing on the computer.

I am beginning to think Lily will have curly hair. After each bath I notice it more and more.

She may still be a little small for the highchair. I just thought this was a cute picture.
