It's Been a While...

Wow! I can't believe that I haven't blogged for over a month. For any followers, I apologize. The last few weeks have been crazy. I thought I would fill you in and share a few updated pictures.

Lily has been up to so much lately. She started walking about a month ago (10 1/2 months). I couldn't believe it. Once she got a hang of it, it became her main mode of transportation. She walks and even tries to run everywhere. She won't even let me hold her when we are outside. I had to go buy her her first pair of shoes.

Two weeks ago we took Lily's bottles away and moved on to sippy cups with whole milk. That was probably the hardest thing I have done thus far. I know it sounds crazy but when your little girl won't drink anything, it makes life tough. For a week and a half Lily drank 2 to 3 ounces total a day. I probably called the doctor every other day to make sure she was okay. He said as long as she had wet diapers we were okay. Then last week I had this idea that maybe Lily didn't like the taste of milk so I bought some Ovaltine. Magic! Even though she isn't drinking as much as before, she now drinks 8-10 ounces a day. Don't worry - I only use half the suggested serving for her milk. Hopefully things will continue to improve.

Now we are just waiting for October 21st to come. Lily will have her cleft palate repair then. I am a nervous wreck but can't wait to get this milestone past us. We have known since the day after Lily was born that surgery day was coming right at her one year birthday. And here we are! This has been a fast year with so much going on. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Now we are just praying that the family stays well for the next few weeks. We all have a cold, but I'm hoping it clears up soon. Lily got her first flu shot last week. The hospital recommended that we take any precautions we could before surgery. Lily has no negative effects so I am trusting that that was the right decision. So please join with us in praying for this surgery coming up.

Here are a few pictures over the last few weeks. I am disappointed in myself for not taking many pictures . I'm home almost everyday, so I have no excuse!

Aunt Sarah was giving Lily guacamole - she loved it!

Trying to give Lily her milk with chocolate pudding on the spout :) - that didn't last!

Cute pics. I see your daughter was born on the 16th, Cass was born on the 13th. It must be so cute to see her walking around, Cassie wants to walk but I have to hold her..she doesn't have the balance thing down just yet :o)
